I’m using Windows Vista and have lost my network status icon. Went to Properties but the “network” box is greyed out, (as is the “volume” box). (The authenticate bubble is missing)
- Click the Start menu and select Run enter regedit.exe
- Goto key: HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareClassesLocal SettingsSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionTrayNotify
- Delete keys ‘IconStreams’ and ‘PastIconsStream’

Broadcast DHCP messages not recieved…
This would be an issue of the network is blocking multicast traffic (ask infrastructure services if this is the case)
Vista needs patching (attached) remember to “run as administrator” or this will not work.
